Bay Hills Halloween Parade

In an effort to provide a safe environment for our children and residents within our community we thought it would be a good idea to hold a parade and minimize door to door trick or treating this year.  Our few thoughts were:

  1. Parade - as Halloween falls on a Saturday this year it makes it easier to hold a parade during daylight hours.  This is a great way for the kids to see each other and for those residents who would like to participate but not have trick or treaters come up to their home.
    • Time - the parade will start at 4:00
    • Route - same as the July 4th parade, starting at the corner of Summit Dr and Highview Dr (please space safely)
    • Participants - the parade is open to all Bay Hills residents and their families only.
    • Masks - we ask that all participants wear a mask, both adults and children
    • Parental Supervision -  we are asking parents to participate with their kids in the parade to help assist with social distancing and mask wearing
    • Candy -  if you are watching the parade please feel free to hand out candy on the parade route. If you don’t live on the route please park at the beach and stand along the field, spacing appropriately, to give out candy .  Please wear a mask and gloves if you are handing out candy.
    • Post Parade - we ask that everyone please do not congregate at the beach after the parade
  2.   Provide signs - 1 each green and red for residents to display in front of their homes to state whether or not they welcome trick or treaters.  The signs will be approximately 11 x 17 and will be dropped in members mailboxes (using the 2020 roster) at the end of next week.  Here is an example of the sign we are thinking of: https://www.dailyherald.com/news/20200924/red-signgreen-sign-how-suburbs-are-solving-the-trick-or-treat-dilemma.  Please make sure the signs are visible so kids are clear on which houses are handing out candy and those that are not.
  3. Volunteers - Kristin Schmid has volunteered to assist with organizing the parade.  We will need a few volunteers to deliver the signs late next week to residents mailboxes.  Please reach out to Kristin Schmid or Eric Koelmel if you would like to volunteer.
Thank you in advance for your cooperation in making this a fun and safe event for everyone!

More information will follow at the end of next week in a follow up email.

Thank you,
The Bay Hills Board of Directors
